Digital Product – Knitting Pattern for the Rita Scarf
This little scarf is inspired by the kind of things my grandmother, Rita, is always knitting. Every Christmas we look forward to her soft presents, which without fail contain a new washcloth, towel, or dishcloth in this iconic (at least in our family) checked pattern. As I’m writing this, my grandmother Rita has just turned 97 years old. <3
The pattern is simple and cozy to knit: small checks are created by alternating knit and purl stitches in sections of 3 stitches.
You work them across the row and repeat over 6 rows in height, then switch up the knits and purls so the little squares flip.
Throughout the pattern, I’ll tell you when to keep knitting as before, and when to switch it up.
Read through the whole pattern before you begin, so you get a feel for the different steps involved.
The scarf is worked from tip to tip, and shaped as you go with increases and decreases.
Lying flat: approx. 100 cm long (or desired length) and 9 cm wide.
- 2 strands of Filcolana Tilia, 25 g / approx. 210 m
- 3.5 mm needles
This pattern is perfect for a cool summer evening, the in-between seasons, or simply as a stylish little add-on to your outfit.
A small project with a big personality.
